DMR is based on the international commercial radio standard. I could try and explain it, but the easiest way is to just have you look at:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.k4usd.org\/guide.pdf\">&#8220;The Amateur&#8217;s Guide to DMR&#8221; by W2XAB<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">To be <em><strong>FULLY<\/strong><\/em> active on a DMR network, you need to register for a <em><strong>FREE <\/strong><\/em>user number via DMR-MARC which you can obtain here:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.radioid.net\/cgi-bin\/trbo-database\/userreg.cgi\">DMR Registration Page<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The BYRG is linked via the Brandmeister DMR Network. They have over 800 Talk Groups available on ALL repeaters in a PTT or User Active mode. Info on Brandmeister can be found here:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.brandmeister.network\/index.php\/Main_Page\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brandmeister Wiki (constantly being updated)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The Backyard Repeater Group requests that any device starting with &#8220;DV4&#8221; or is from Wireless Holdings NOT be used on 31201, or any BYRG repeater. The performance of these devices on DMR cause many headaches for the users and sysops both.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24pt; color: #ff0000;\"><em>WE DO NOT FOLLOW THE &#8220;REFLECTOR&#8221; TYPE OPERATION FOUND IN EUROPE FOR DMR. WE USE THE MORE SENSIBLE CHANNEL\/TALK GROUP PROGRAMMING OF YOUR RADIO. ANY Activity on 31201 can be found on all repeaters, and MANY more outside of the Kansas City Area. ALL the other talk groups are &#8220;repeater dependent&#8221; which means, for example, &nbsp;if you are active on World Wide on Mission, Peculiar will be quiet until someone &#8220;wakes up&#8221; WW on Peculiar. Or if you are active on as an example NA on Peculiar, then Mission will still be User Activated or &#8220;asleep&#8221;.
